Dear adoc Studio Community, the day has come: The public beta of adoc Studio Version 4 is here. After months of intensive development, we’re excited to introduce the most comprehensive version of our AsciiDoc editor yet.
What’s New in Version 4?
1. Translation Management - One Project, All Languages
Anyone creating multilingual documentation knows the struggle: files scattered across folders, no overview of which translation is current. Version 4 solves this fundamentally.
You can now manage all language versions in a single project. Shared resources like images are automatically shared, language-specific media supported with intelligent fallback. And with AI-powered translation, translating becomes effortless.
2. AI Integration - Your Tools, Your Control
We’ve integrated AI assistance directly into the editor. Use your own API keys from OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google - work directly with your preferred models, without detours and without additional subscriptions.
What can you do with it?
- Rephrase text (friendlier, more professional, more concise)
- Proofread (grammar, spelling, style)
- Convert formats (bullet points to tables and vice versa)
- Translate with context
The special part: The AI understands AsciiDoc syntax. Formatting is preserved, only content is transformed.
3. PDF/UA Compliance - Accessibility in One Click
Starting 2025, the EU Accessibility Act requires accessible documents. With adoc Studio v4, you’re prepared. How far industry is from meeting that bar is quantified in our 2026 study on PDF/UA compliance in DACH industry: 0 out of 62 documents passed. A single attribute is all it takes to export PDFs compliant with ISO 14289 (PDF/UA):
- Automatic document structure tags
- Screen reader compatible
- Audit-proof for compliance checks
No expensive specialized tools, no manual post-processing.
4. Static Site Generator - Documentation as a Website
Perhaps the most exciting part: Export your entire documentation project as a professional website with one click.
- No build tools needed (no Jekyll, Hugo, or npm)
- Automatic navigation and search
- Multilingual with automatic language switcher
- Customizable themes and layouts
The export folder is immediately deployment-ready.
You can find first examples of the website export in our Manual and the adoc Studio Learning Path. Both are adoc Studio projects exported as websites. The navigation bar and footer were generated using a Docinfo file.
